Book Week - Primary and Secondary news

This year’s Book Week, themed "Book an Adventure," was a fantastic celebration of reading and creativity! On the rainy Wednesday of week 6, our school was buzzing with excitement during the dress-up parade, where students came dressed as their favorite adventurous book characters. It was great to see an excellent level of participation again this year! Congratulations to Year 1A and Year 4B for winning the Best Dressed Class awards!

Throughout the week, students enjoyed fun lunchtime activities including Story Time sessions and French Knitting, plus exciting competitions that kept everyone engaged. It was a wonderful week full of imagination and adventure—thank you to all who participated and made it such a success!

The Children’s Book Council of Australia announced the Book Week theme for 2026 which is, “Symphony of Stories.”.

In the Secondary School, Book Week was just as exciting with a range of activities and competitions. Students tested their knowledge in Guess the Book in the Jar and had plenty of laughs in Oh, the Places They’ll Go, where they matched teachers to their dream holiday destinations. A highlight was the lively Year 12 vs Teachers Kahoot. The level of participation was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see students and staff equally engaged. The prizes were yummy too.

The creativity didn’t stop there - our teachers impressed us with their themed dress-ups across the subject departments. English hosted a Pride and Prejudice high tea, complete with cucumber sandwiches and scones, while HASS transformed into a jungle adventure

The Year 12s impressed with their choice of the Bible as their book, drawing inspiration from figures like Moses and groups such as the Christmas story characters.

To top it all off, our Admin team stole the show, winning the Best Dressed Staff Team Award for their brilliant Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme, even decorating the Main Office. It was truly a Book Week to remember!
