Primary Library

Scholastic Book Club

Term 1 has seen two issues of Scholastic Book club come home. Thank you to all the wonderful families who have purchased books for their children. Did you know that every purchase you make on Book Club earns our school 15% of the order value in Scholastic Rewards? We use these to purchase more books and educational resources for the school. It all helps! It is so good to know that the home libraries are growing too! Your support has meant our library received over $500 in scholastic rewards this term. We have been able to get 54 new books for our library because of this. So a huge thank you for purchasing through Scholastic Book Club! Issue 3 will come home in the first few weeks of Term 2. 

Holiday Reading

Easter Holidays are a perfect time to catch up on reading the books that have been waiting patiently on our shelves. We encourage the Primary students to read their own books, visit the public library or borrow on ePlatform during the holidays for reading material. Below is an Easter Reading Bingo Challenge you may wish to work on over the Easter holidays with your family to reflect on the true meaning of Easter and what Jesus has done for us. 

Primary Top Borrower for February

We had almost 3000 books loaned out during February to students alone in the Primary Library! George Thomas was determined to be our top borrower for February and he did it by borrowing and reading 47 books! He achieved this by regularly visiting the library during break times to return the ones he had read and borrowing new ones. This month, he began to read Tom Gates, but during February he enjoyed reading Anh Do’s variety of series, including Hot Dog, Smarty Pup and Weirdo. However, his favourite series he read during February was Diary of a Roblox Pro. Well done George! Keep up the excellent reading!  

Book Club is happening in Middle School

Our Middle School Book Club got off to a great start this year, meeting in Weeks 4 and 8 of the term. Twelve students came along to the first session in the library, and we were glad to see new members join at the second meeting. Each student gets one minute to talk about a book they’ve read, give a quick summary, and share why they liked it—without any spoilers. It was really interesting to hear about all the different books students are enjoying. It’s also been a great way for students to meet new people and make new friends. Book Club is run by Miss Campbell from the English Department and Miss Potgieter from the library, and it’s already shaping up to be a relaxed and enjoyable space for students who like reading.

Our students love their library

We love seeing our students enjoying the library space and taking time to read during break times. It’s wonderful to see a welcoming environment where students can relax, explore books, and develop a love of reading. Moments like these are what make our library such a special place.

Easter is a special time in the Christian calendar when we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a message of hope, new life, and forgiveness, reminding us that even in difficult times, there is always the promise of renewal. As families and communities come together, it is also a time to reflect, be grateful, and share kindness with others. We wish all our families a very blessed Easter time and hope you enjoy a restful and joyful Easter break.
