Middle School News | February 2026

The start of 2026 in the Middle School has been largely positive and encouraging. Despite some ongoing technology challenges, the year has begun smoothly, with classrooms quickly settling into productive learning routines. After visiting several classes, I have been impressed by the calm, consistent classroom management demonstrated by teachers, as well as the respectful behaviour and positive learning attitudes shown by students. It has been particularly encouraging to see older students warmly welcoming new members of the Middle School and students expressing genuine gratitude to their teachers for their classes. These early signs provide a strong foundation as we move confidently into the term ahead.

Year 8

Year 8 parents and caregivers, I am excited to be leading the Year 8 cohort this year. You may know me previously, as Miss Symington, but I am now Mrs Francisco. In 2026, Year 8 will be exploring the theme of Becoming - a reflection of this unique stage of adolescence where students are not little, not grown, but growing. Our focus is on Becoming in Christ, recognising that they are no longer who they once were, yet not quite who they will be. As Philippians 1:6 reminds us, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” This verse reassures students that they do not need to have everything figured out right now; God is still writing their story.  As parents and caregivers, you play a huge role in celebrating this messy, wonderful process of growth and discovery, trusting that God is faithful and committed to shaping them into who they are meant to be.  A final note, I do not work Mondays, but please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns.

Year 9

Welcome to Year 9 and the start of an exciting and important year of learning. This is a key stage in students’ secondary education, as they continue to build independence, strengthen learning habits, and develop skills for their senior years. Throughout the year, students will be encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning, challenge themselves academically, and engage positively with school life. Year 9 is also an important time for students to explore their interests and begin considering future pathways, including subject choices. Next term, students will participate in a University and TAFE visit to help broaden their understanding of post-school options. We look forward to working in partnership with families to support students’ growth throughout the year.
