From the Middle School Coordinator

As we head into assessment time, parents can play an important role in helping their child prepare. Here are a few tips:

• Encourage your child to revise a little each day rather than cramming the night before. 

• Check that they know their assessment and exam schedule and have all necessary equipment ready, including pens, pencils, calculators, and chargers if required. 

  • The Assessment Calendar can be viewed in the 2026 Middle School Hub: Year 7-9 Term 2 2026 Assessment Calendars  

• Ensure they get plenty of sleep, eat healthy meals, and stay hydrated, as these all support concentration and memory. 

• Help them establish a quiet study space free from distractions and encourage regular breaks during study sessions. 

• If your child is struggling with particular subject content, encourage them to seek assistance from their teacher before the assessment. 

• Most importantly, reassure your child that their effort and preparation matter more than any single result. 

A calm, positive attitude and consistent routines can help build confidence and reduce stress during this busy time.

Middle School Coordinator – On Campus

Year 7

Students are on the home stretch of term two. Secondary school has now become an everyday norm. The daily routine is now very familiar. We have learnt to read task sheets, submit drafts and finals and when we don’t understand something, asking questions helps tremendously!

Students have participated in many sporting and dance competitions, placing very well against other teams in the community. Demonstrating that hard work and practice are rewarded with solid skill development and high outcomes. These same principles apply to academic achievement. Setting solid goals, being engaged in class, taking notes on what is discussed or explained and completing our classwork and homework will produce skill and understanding on the exam assessments. 

The trip to Canberra is fast approaching, and the final preparations are being finalised. Parents must sign the snow play waiver forms, pack warm clothes from the packing list and double check that students have their formal uniform for touring parliament house and participating in role play governing sessions. 

Students not attending Canberra also have an exciting program for week one. They will be touring parliament house, but the Queensland Parliament, which is very uniquely different to all the other state parliaments. Term three week one is a  normal school week and attendance is required as standard practice. The students will be completing work that helps them gain similar understanding of government and interesting venues as the outcomes targeted by the Canberra itinerary. 

Exams in Mathematics and Science will take place on Wednesday June 17th, week 9 of this term. Students final day of term is Friday June 26th. Students will enjoy a three week break and return on Monday July 20th for the start of term three.

Year 7 Coordinator

Year 9

Our Year 9 students have been keeping one eye firmly on the horizon during recent PASS lessons. We were thrilled to host guest speakers from both TAFE and the Australian Defence Force (ADF), who shared valuable insights into the diverse career pathways available after school. This ties perfectly into our current classroom focus, where students have been:

• Exploring future career options

• Developing essential workforce skills

• Preparing for upcoming senior subject selections

It’s fantastic to see the cohort engaging so maturely with these big choices.

The next few weeks bring exam season, and we need your support at home. We kindly ask parents and guardians to help students manage their time effectively. Encouraging them to use their study and homework blocks wisely will make a world of difference to their confidence and final results.  

We will be wrapping up the term with a bang at the highly anticipated Athletics Carnival in Week 10. It promises to be a great day of house spirit, track events, and friendly competition. Let's finish the term strong, Year 9!
