Welcome to Term 3!
It was great to see the smiling faces back at school on Monday. As a PS we extend a special welcome to the 9 new students and their families.
Exciting Learning Ahead!
Students across each year level have some exciting learning ahead of them for Term 3. Some of the learning includes:
Prep > Beebots writing recount stories and learning about how to look after the natural environment
Year 1 > Studying the book “Charlotte’s Web”, looking at where food comes from and how to keep their body healthy
Year 2 > Coding with the swift playground app, looking at changes to living things and technology over time
Year 3 > Matbots, changing states of matter and how to build resilience and a positive mindset
Year 4 > Camp, digital storytelling through Google Slides, and using words to help shop in Chinese lessons
Year 5 > An excursion to Australia Zoo to support their Science learning of adaptations and coding via a sphero in technology
Year 6 > Microorganisms, Australian Federation and designing and creating their mini arcade experience for the PS students
Uniform
Now is also a good time for getting a haircut and ensuring all uniform items are clean, still fit and are labelled. Please refer to the ACC Uniform Guide on the Parent Portal for more information.
Project Based Learning in Art Design
As part of Friday Fusion, students can elect to be in the art design PBL. The aim is for students to create an art design that is for a purpose. So far we have created a variety of things that were presented as part of the Caboolture Show and the Queensland Garden Expo. We took the students to see their creations, which was an amazing experience for them.
We had some success with these items:
Caboolture Show > Fruit and Vegetable Animal Creation
1st Place - Gauri Pallikkara
Caboolture Show > Floral Design
1st Place - Keren Vinod
2nd Place (equal) - Angelina Thaikadan & Joanna Thomas
2nd Place (equal) - Neveah Drake
Queensland Garden Expo - Botanical Hats
1st Place - Chloe Toe
Operation Christmas Child
This term we are supporting the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child, a project that sends shoeboxes filled with items to children in developing countries. Every 2 weeks we are focussing on a different category to bring in. For Week 1&2 this is personal care items (soap, toothbrush, comb, hair accessories). The aim is to fill 300 boxes. We are excited to come together as a community to share generosity and kindness with children around the world.
