As we near the end of Term 3 and assessment deadlines and exams loom, several of our secondary school coordinators provide an overview of recent high school highlights.

Middle School

Year 7

Year 7 students have had a very busy term. We began the term with our Canberra trip, then  students represented our school in multiple sporting competitions.  If students are struggling to complete or understand the missing lessons, please connect with their teachers.

Next week is exam revision and the completion of assessment pieces in most of their subjects. Making a dedicated time and place for students to complete their work, assignments and study for their exams is a positive investment of time.

Year 7 students have begun working on their Legacy Project, to document their secondary schooling experience. Mr Traore is inspiring them to record thoughts, feelings and events to look back on in future. Leaving an intentional legacy gives students the opportunity to realise how their lives impact themselves and those around them.

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men

Year 9

Our Year 9s have been tackling essential real-world skills this term to help them prepare for life inside and outside the classroom. Lessons have focused on mastering interview techniques and building confidence for future job applications. Beyond landing a role, students have also been exploring practical strategies for balancing school commitments, social lives, and part-time jobs - learning how to build healthy routines as they gain independence.

A huge congratulations to our Year 9 athletes who recently represented the school at the district athletics competition! We had several students perform exceptionally well, securing top-three finishes across multiple track and field events. Their dedication, grit, and sportsmanship made the entire school community proud.

With most subjects wrapping up key content over the next few weeks, the focus now shifts to consolidating what has been taught. It is crucial that students begin revising their class material and setting up structured study routines at home now. Getting a head start on assessment preparation will help manage stress levels and give every student the best opportunity to shine before the term ends.

Year 11

Our Year 11 students recently participated in a vibrant presentation of the ThinkUKnow Australia program, delivered by the Queensland Police Service. This evidence-based cyber safety initiative equipped our students with the critical skills they need to navigate the digital world safely. The interactive session covered age-appropriate topics vital for our Year 11s, including digital privacy, strong password creation, online grooming, the realities of self-generated material, and clear pathways for reporting. By using real-world case studies and incredible energy, the QPS officer kept the students completely hooked from start to finish, delivering an engaging experience that left our Year 11s equipped to make smarter, safer online choices.
