ANZAC Day March

It was fantastic to see a good representation of our Senior students at the ANZAC march in Caboolture. Honouring those that have gone before and deepening our understanding of the sacrifices made for the life we have is important at our College.

Kokoda Challenge 2025

On June 7 we have 9 students and 4 staff completing the Kokoda Challenge, Brisbane, 30km event. This is a gruelling event where students will complete over 1400m of elevation change across a little over 30km. We are in our final preparations for the event and would appreciate any support. Students Contacting Home in School Hours

We have had a few instances where students have been using personal devices to contact parents to pick them up due to sickness or otherwise. The procedure at the College is that students who are unwell can come to the sickbay, be attended to and then a decision is made whether the parent needs contacting and if the student is required to be picked up. Your cooperation in this is appreciated.

Year 10

Welcome to Term 2

Year 10 students have now completed their first term and are settling into the year well. As a cohort, they have handed the big Year 9 to 10 jump well and are becoming more familiar with the expectations of senior school and are generally managing the workload with increasing confidence. With the Term 2 being a shorter 9 weeks, it will be important for students to maintain effective time management and study habits—such as using a calendar to track due dates, setting aside regular time for study and assignment work, and ensuring they get enough rest and sleep. These practices will help support their learning and overall well-being.

Year 11

The Queensland Fire Department came to ACC and presented a RAAP (Road Attitudes and Action Planning), which educated our Year 11 cohort about the increased risks associated with the Fatal 5 driving behaviours: speeding, not wearing seatbelts, inattention, fatigue, and substance use. The firefighters emphasised that consequences were the direct result of personal choices and actions, and that planning ahead—whether as a driver or passenger—could help prevent poor decisions. The presentation also explored the specific risks faced by young drivers, including underdeveloped driving skills, overconfidence, distraction, smartphones and driving at high-risk times. We hope and pray that this investment of time will help our students experience the fullest life.

Year 12

Year 12 students are rapidly moving through their final year of schooling. Be sure to encourage your students as they head into the last half of Term 2 and then Term 3. The toughest part of their journey is approaching! For Term 2, many face important assessments in our Week 8 exam block. 

After that, our sights move towards preparations for the External Exam Block, the timetable for which is now available through QCAA here. Please look at this as a family and identify where your student's exams are taking place. 

Check in with your young adult regularly -- the stress of Year 12 is very real and they need love and support. Help them manage their time by creating study timetables, reducing work hours around due dates, and organising times where they can take a deliberate break. It is not feasible to maintain constant study and work. Everyone needs to switch off at some point.  

Students and their Form teachers will be having a '100 Days Left' celebration on the 17th August (Term 3, Week 8) during Form. Mark this day on your calendar as it is an opportunity to encourage and celebrate the progress your student has made thus far.

Last week, we were able to get the entire cohort together for a Senior Jacket photo. We are proud of our Year 12s!
